Malcolm - Hotel Bakpak Guest - July 2006
On arriving to Melbourne, I had only enough money for a weeks accomadation. Reaching Hotel Bakpak I saw the Job CLub and signed up.
WIthin 2days I had a couple of jobs and within a week I was working with a company who install exhibition stands. This job has allowed me to build my m oney back up and also travel the rest of Oz. The company does the International Motor SHows for BMW and Honda. As a worker for them I have been sent to each of the shows in Australia (Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth) to help set up the car stands. I shall also be going to Sydney in October to do the same again.
This travel around all of Oz's major cities and my earning of good wages would have not been possible without me joining the Job Club
Neil - Hotel Bakpak Guest December 2005
"I arrived in Melbourne at 10pm, called Hotel Bakpak and they picked me up from the airport. I registered with the Downunder Jobs, located in the hostel, the next morning and went to meet a friend for coffee. The job club called me at 3 o'clock with some work starting that day at 5pm at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Since then I have done dishwashing for a catering company, but most of the work I have done has been for two office relocation companies based in and around Melbourne city centre. The work is quite physically demanding but at the same time enjoyable. Some days I work 12 hours and some days we are finished by midday both of these have their pluses as one means you have earnt good money that day and the other means you have the afternoon to yourself. The weekly rate for the hostel is cheaper if you are a member of the job club and for the last three weeks I have worked over 20 hours which means I receive an additional $20 off my rent."
